On May 4, two Grade 8 students traveled for the first time to the SFU campus in Surrey to participate in the provincial French public speaking competition, Concours d'art oratoire. In this competition, students write and present French speeches to a panel of judges.
Overbuying and misleading expiry dates cause food to be thrown out and wasted. However, this food can still be eaten. With so many Canadians going hungry and relying on food banks everyday, donating overbought or past the best before date food is doing double the deed.
The point of this visit was to get international perspectives on possible ways to solve climate change and to meet people from a different part of the world. After we were all introduced, we were separated into two calls and talked about climate change and ways to fix it.
