Welcome to Southpointe Athletics
Sport is a vital part of the overall student experience at Southpointe Academy, playing a key role in promoting health, well-being, and personal growth. Athletics also contribute significantly to the development of character, confidence, leadership, and teamwork. At Southpointe, we recognize this and prioritize sport alongside our world-leading IB academics to provide an exceptional student-athlete experience.
Our athletics program makes full use of premier facilities, including the Jackson Carson Gymnasium, weight room, soccer fields, and track and field areas, ensuring students have the tools they need to thrive both in and out of the classroom.
Currently, we are developing an exciting new 75,000-square-foot campus expansion, which will complement our existing 80,000-square-foot building. These two buildings will be connected by a sky bridge and designed to work in harmony. The expansion will feature state-of-the-art training spaces, including a second gymnasium and a new weight room outfitted with Rogue equipment—offering an elite environment for student-athletes.
Southpointe teams compete at various levels across multiple leagues and organizations, including:
- ISEA (Grades 3–7)
- GVISSA, DSSAA, SFAA (Grades 8–12)
- BC Provincials, among others
In Grades 3–7, the focus is on developing fundamental athletic skills, nurturing passion, and fostering a love for sport. As students move through Middle and Senior School, the emphasis shifts to skill progression, competitive experience, and personal achievement. Our Junior (Grades 8–10) and Senior (Grades 11–12) athletes compete at increasingly advanced levels, traveling across Delta, South Fraser, the Lower Mainland, Vancouver Island, and other provincial regions.
At Southpointe, athletics are not just about competition—they are about building well-rounded individuals prepared to lead, perform, and thrive.
