At Southpointe, we believe athletics is imperative for a holistic, well-rounded educational experience. We offer a variety of activities for students to participate in and have facilities designed for multi-sport use, including The Jackson Carson Gymnasium and state-of-the-art fitness centre.
Our athletic programming helps student-athletes from Grades 3 to 12 develop intrinsic motivation, responsibility, teamwork, leadership skills, and courage following Canada's Long Term Athlete Development Plan philosophy. This program is in addition to the Physical & Health Education curriculum built into students' daily schedules and takes place outside of regular school hours. At the heart of each team, you will find our school values of kindness, integrity, perseverance, respect, and responsibility.
We encourage participation in athletics, beginning with our youngest Titans in Grade 3. Following the FUNdamentals stage of Canada’s Long Term Athlete Development Plan, this philosophy focuses on fun, participation, basic movement concepts, and athletic skills. Moving into our Senior grades, the Train to Compete stage focuses on competitive training sessions, games, and tournaments on the path to the BC Provincial Championships.
Some of our popular sports teams include basketball, soccer, volleyball, track & field, and badminton. There is something for everyone to get involved in! Go, Titans!
