As students transition into our Senior School for Grades 10-12, they are challenged to think creatively, follow their intellectual curiosity and use the enrichment opportunities available. Co-curriculars such as performing arts, band, athletics, clubs and service learning experiences combine to create an optimal environment for students to learn, lead and succeed. We want our students to develop a love of learning, a desire to succeed and respect and compassion for others throughout their lives as global citizens.
In Grade 10, students complete the MYP, culminating with a service learning based project. Students take the skills they have been taught through the MYP to inquire, research, take action and present their projects to the school community.
Currently, our Senior Graduation Programme for Grade 11-12 delves beyond the expectations of the British Columbia curriculum to equip our future graduates with the independent, creative, critical and collaborative tools that well-rounded scholars require today. We do not ask students to simply take a formula or a method and repeat it in different contexts. We encourage them to challenge themselves with underlying concepts and see how complex ideas function.
Starting in September 2023, we will begin delivering the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme (DP), which is recognized and respected by the world’s leading universities. This will make Southpointe one of only a handful of schools in Canada authorized to deliver the IB Continuum Programme from Kindergarten to Grade 12.
