Giving FAQ

The Southpointe Enrichment Fund is a direct appeal to parents, family members, faculty, staff, Board of Governors, alumni, and friends of Southpointe Academy for financial contributions to provide equipment and programmes not funded through the annual operating budget.

Donations to the Southpointe Enrichment Fund will support three essential areas: Academic Enrichment, Student Programmes, and Building & Grounds Enhancements. 
 
Academic Enrichment 

• Additional classroom resources and materials to enrich learning
• Additional technology resources (drones, robotics, laser cutters, 3D design, etc.)
• PE, Music and Art resources and equipment
• Keynote speakers and distinguished presenters to enrich the curriculum and professional development

 
Student Programmes 

• Additional field trips to broaden classroom learning
• Greater scope of outdoor and experiential education 
• Enriched co-curricular club opportunities from Kindergarten to Grade 12
• New athletic gear and team uniforms

 
Building & Grounds Enhancements 

• Enhancements to Junior School common learning areas
• Resources for Upper School science and design labs
• Outdoor play spaces and equipment
• Architectural and landscape design consultations for future buildings and development

Every member of the Southpointe community is asked to participate by making a donation to support the Southpointe Enrichment Fund at a level that is both meaningful to you and within your means. 

Every gift, no matter the amount, is received with both gratitude and appreciation. 

Tuition is raised from time to time to reflect increased operating expenses and the cost of living index. However, these increases do not fully cover the cost of a Southpointe education at a level that would be competitive in the independent school market. In addition, gifts to the school are tax-deductible, where tuition is not.

All gifts, no matter the size, contribute directly to the enhancement of a Southpointe Education. By making a gift, you are advancing our culture of giving, and ensuring that our students can learn, lead, and succeed. Your support impacts every student, every day.
 

Yes, funds are also raised through our annual Southpointe Gala. The 2020-2021 Virtual Gala will take place on Saturday, May 1, 2021. At this event, we welcome participation through monetary gifts, advertisements, or gift-in-kind contributions to the auctions and raffles.

Here at Southpointe, our main priority is to strengthen the philanthropic culture within our community. While there are suggested donation amounts listed on our giving page, we welcome and appreciate donations of all sizes, at a level that is both meaningful and within your means.
 

Yes, donors can choose to make a one-time gift or pledge a donation over the school year. Donations can be made online, credit card, cheque, or transfer of securities. We also accept WeChat and Alipay.
 

Yes, all gifts over $50.00 are eligible for a tax receipt.
