Welcome to Southpointe Academy - a place where our students are inspired to learn, lead and succeed every day. Southpointe is a university preparatory, co-educational school, offering its students and families an environment that is caring and community-centred. Our core values of kindness, integrity, perseverance, respect and responsibility provide the foundation to create a place of belonging where the spirit of community is alive, where students feel a sense of care, and are supported to achieve their personal best.
Southpointe is an International Baccalaureate (IB) Continuum World School authorized to deliver the full Primary Years Programme (K-5), Middle Years Programme (Grades 6-10), and Diploma Programme (Grades 11-12). As an IB Continuum World School offering a continuum of IB programmes, Southpointe embraces the philosophy of the IB “to develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people, who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect.” At Southpointe, we aim to develop young people of character who will make a positive difference in the world.
Through the IB, Southpointe prepares its students for success in the mid-21st century by ensuring they have the key skills required to thrive in a fast-changing, increasingly global world. The focus on communication, thinking, research, social and self-management skills from K-12 enriches the strands of a Southpointe education – academics, arts, athletics, experiential education and service learning – by providing students with an enhanced experience in all domains.
As the Head of School at Southpointe, I am inspired every day by the commitment I witness from our staff to ensure that our students are cared for, that they do well in their studies, that they develop to their full potential and achieve their personal best. It is our privilege to work with our students and help them enjoy the formative educational experience of their lives at Southpointe. When parents, students and educators come together around core values, a shared purpose, and a deep sense of mission, then the foundation is laid for a great, holistic education. Gordon MacIntyre, Head of School
An educator with over twenty-five years of experience, Gordon MacIntyre developed a passion for teaching and education at the University of British Columbia. He has earned four degrees from UBC, including a Master of Education (Educational Administration and Leadership).
Before joining Southpointe Academy as Head of School in 2018, Gordon served as the Deputy Head of School at Mulgrave, the International School of Vancouver. His prior leadership postings included the Director of the Junior School position at Stratford Hall in Vancouver, another International Baccalaureate (IB) independent school. Earlier in his career, he taught elementary and high school at Meadowridge School in Maple Ridge and served as an Athletics Director and university counsellor.
Territorial Acknowledgement
Southpointe would like to acknowledge the traditional territory of the Tsawwassen and Musqueam First Nations and all of the Hun’qumi’num speaking people who have been stewards of this land since time immemorial. We would also like to offer our respect to all of the elders who have gone before us.

Our beautiful campus is located in the heart of South Delta, a growing community rich in history, surrounded by nature reserves and boundless ocean views. Established in 2000, Southpointe has grown into a world leading school delivering the International Baccalaureate (IB) Continuum Programme, which encourages students to think critically, engage in global conversations, and is recognized by universities around the world.
Southpointe Academy is authorized to deliver the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP) from Kindergarten to Grade 5, IB Middle Years Programme (MYP) from Grades 6 to 10 and IB Diploma Programme (DP) from Grades 11 to 12. Southpointe is one of the few schools in Canada and only school in Delta delivering the IB Continuum Programme from Kindergarten to Graduation.
With a foundation built on community, Southpointe has grown into an internationally recognized school, seeking to expand the boundaries of what is possible while staying committed to its founding mandate. Shaped by experienced faculty and staff who bring diverse perspectives and extensive knowledge to every department, an internationally recognized curriculum framework, and a state-of-the-art campus, Southpointe looks ahead to a bright future while continuing to provide a world leading education for our students to learn, lead and succeed.

Our Future
Southpointe Academy is in the development stage of our Master Campus Plan expansion. We are expanding and enriching our curricular and co-curricular offerings for students and families with additional specialist classrooms and amenities. Southpointe will be able to offer more courses from Kindergarten to Grade 12 as Delta’s only International Baccalaureate (IB) Continuum School and enrich the strength of its athletics, arts, outdoor education and service-learning programs. The growth of Southpointe will serve local families' needs, enhance the local economy, and enrich the overall community development of South Delta.
